Can someone please help? I cannot log onto my MSN account and IE keeps stopping too. It's been 5 days. I have tried just about every suggestion I could find here and on MSN support site. As soon as I get onto my home page, I get kicked off. I'm so frustrated. This happened after I got some updates from MSN on 6/14. Started crashing gradually now it's constant.

Is your antivirus software enabled and updated? You mentioned it "kicks" you off of your homepage. What exactly does it do? Does the browser close out? Does have a different homepage than what you want it to have?

For problems like this, I recommend SuperAntiSpyware. Great scanning software! When you've done that, or haven't had any luck, get back to me and we will go from there!

I did run SuperAntiSpyware and it only showed traceable cookies that I deleted. Everything else is fine. This has been 6 days now.

Did you try another browser like firefox or chrome to see if it does the same thing?

Firefox & Chrome both work. However, I have a hard time navigating and trying to find all my "stuff". I hate Hotmail. I called Microsoft Thursday 7/5. I was on with tech support for quite a while. No luck. He gave me a ticket number for my problem and said he was "escalating the problem to a resolution specialist" and I would hear back from someone in 24-36 hrs. Well.....today is sunday and according to my calculations, that's 72 hrs with no response. Typical microsoft. I have had MSN since 1997. I NEED msn. Help??

I just upgraded to IE9. I did get an email from Microsoft that all MSN users are being upgraded to MSN 10 within the next couple of weeks. How do I locate what version I have now? TY for your response.

MSN is a website. You're saying it doesn't open in Internet Explorer? But it opens fine in Chrome and Firefox? What "updates" on 6/14 are you talking about? The website changed?

People often confuse MSN (a website) for installed Microsoft applications on their computers. Be specific as to what you mean when you say "MSN".

Hotmail is also just a website. It has absolutely nothing to do with the MSN website other than one links to the other.

Doublehelix, TYVM for responding to my problem. My MSN.com The one with the butterfly is my internet connection. I originally had Verizon with MSN Premium internet accounts so I have 2 email accounts. I still pay thru Verizon but Verizon no longer supports the internet account. My internet connection is a DSL modem. IE & Msn crashes when I Log onto either one. I can get on the internet using Firefox or Chrome. NP. The updates I got on 6/14 were basically Microsoft Security Essentials : KB2310138 1.129.419.0 et al. I realize the diff b/n Microsoft & MSN apps. I hope I am explaining better. I would uninstall MSN & reinstall if that was needed but I can't afford to lose any info from my or my husband's email messages or folders, my Favs, all my stored info. Can you tell me what MSN 10 is? TY in advance.

I really have no idea what you're talking about. It sounds like you had some kind of old dial-up service that was provided by a company later acquired by Verizon and then converted to DSL.

MSN.com is just a website. It's not a program. It's not a service.

Hotmail.com is a web-based e-mail service provided by Microsoft.

I cannot tell from your post what program you're opening that doesn't work or connect or how, exactly, you check e-mail or where those messages might be stored.

Maybe someone else is more familiar with your type of service.

It sounds like an issue that may need to be looked at visually. It's hard to understand the problem by words (for me, anyway). I suggest you take it into your local computer repair shop and get it looked at or ask a certified friend if you know any.

Doublehelix, Ty for your response. There are multiple posts here that read: " MSN has stopped working. Windows will try to find a solution to the problem & notify you....." I will try to copy & paste what windows said to do to fix it.

Well....because I am not familiar with hotmail, I cannot find an edit feature that will allow me to highlight, copy & paste here. Can you tell me if I uninstall MSN & then reinstall it if I will lose any information? Should I put everything I need into separate folders so they are not deleted?

Hotmail is completely web-based. MSN.com is a website. There's nothing to uninstall and reinstall. I don't understand what software you have installed that you're referring to as MSN. I've never heard of an "MSN e-mail client" that would download Hotmail messages locally to a computer. I just can't make heads or tails of what you're talking about. The terms don't make any sense to me.

I cannot advise as to what you would "lose" if you uninstalled an application you're calling "MSN".

Go to www.hotmail.com, and log in with your credentials. If all your e-mail is there, then nothing is stored within this MSN program. If nothing is there, then I don't know where it would be.

I'm not sure what it is either, but from what I have been able to determine it is an internet connection subscription. It can be downloaded here http://membercenter.msn.com/download.aspx
