| Solved: Wireless adapter sporadically cutting out Hey I picked up a new desktop computer a few days ago (finally, one without Windows XP), and I've been having a weird problem with my internet connectivity. I'm using a D-Link WUA-2340, which worked completely fine on my older computer, so I'm figuring it must be something to do with this new one and not an issue with my router or adapter. Basically, my internet will just periodically go out for no apparent reason. It doesn't seem to happen at regular intervals, but I definitely don't think I've gone longer than an hour without it happening so far. It doesn't re-connect on its own if I just leave it, I have to manually unplug the USB adapter and plug it back in, at which point the internet re-connects and works fine for another 20-45 minutes or so. I have noticed that the one time it invariably happens is when I'm downloading a sizeable file, but aside from that it just seems random. I looked up some common answers to this problem and tried re-installing the drivers, and going into 'Power Management' in the Device Manager and unchecking "Allow the computer to shut off this device to save power", and it still continued randomly disconnecting. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? The wireless connections work fine for the other computers in my house, so I'm positive it's not the router. |
