Solved: Microsoft based email security freeze
I'm really hoping someone can help me, I have Windows 7 OS on a Toshiba SatelliteA665, whenever I try to create a new email or reply to one in my outlook or hotmail accounts (this only happens in these 2 email programs) I get a message pop up and my computer freezes. The message is an Internet Explorer Security window, at the top in a yellow bar it says "A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer". Below the yellow bar it says "This program will open outside of Protected mode. Internet Explorer's Protected mode helps protect your computer. If you do not trust this website, do not open this program". Below that it lists the "Name : Silverlight.Configuration.exe" and "Publisher : Microsoft Corporation", and then the "Allow" and "Don't Allow" boxes. What is this? and why is it making my computer freeze up?
Please help

Try using Firefox to access Hotmail and see what happens.

Then let us know.

Silverlight is microsofts web video player.
It does about the same thing as adobe flash player.
So your email is trying to open some silverlight video
and protected mode is asking for permission.
It shouldn't cause your computer to freeze though.
Do you have silverlight installed?

Dan O & leroys1000, Thank you both sooo much for your help!

Dan O, I opened up my Outlook account using safari and works just fine.

leroys1000, after trying Dan O's idea I went and downloaded the latest version of Silverlight, now I can use my Outlook account using Internet Explorer and it works.

I'm still a little curious why all of a sudden it started giving me that security pop-up and freezing in the first place, I ran a security scan on my computer and everything came back clean.

Thank you again!
