Computer freezing
Hello everyone. Lately I'm having problems with PC so I hope you can help me.
Whenever I start up the computer and log in, it freezes after few seconds or when I try to open some program. I get error message "Windows is not responding" and after some time, cursor stops moving and everything freezes, so I'm forced to go into safe mode and in safe mode it doesn't freeze, it works normally.
First time it happened about a week ago. I didn't know what caused the problem so I reinstalled Windows 7. Then after installation, I installed video drivers and other programs that I need, but it happened again. Probably some program causes it but I don't know which one.
And also, it doesn't happen all the time, it happens about 90% of the time. Sometimes I can use the "normal" mode, but for now I'm stuck in safe mode. I hope you can help me.

Sorry your having this issue. I would check your startup programs to see what runs when you start your computer.

Start-->RUN-->Type: msconfig-- select the startup tab.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Start --> Run-->Type:%temp%

Once that temp folder appears and you can view its contents, select and delete EVERYTHING that's inside it.

If a few files resist being deleted, that's normal behavior. Leave them alone and delete EVERYTHING else.

If a massive number of files are being deleted, the computer may appear to "hang". Be patient and wait for the deletion process to finish.

After it's done, restart the computer.

Go here and click the green "Download latest version" link to download and save HiJackThis 2.0.4

After it's been downloaded and saved, close all open windows first, then double-click the saved file to install it.

Allow it to install in its default location - C:\Program Files.

After it's been installed, start it and allow its main window to load.

Uncheck "Do not show this window when I start HiJackThis".

Click "Do a system scan and save a log file".

When the scan is finished in 30 - 60 seconds, a log file will appear.

Save that log file.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE log file here.

---------------------------------------------------------

Start HiJackThis.

Click on the "Open The Misc Tools Section" button.

Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button.

Click on the "Save List" button.

Save the "uninstall_list.txt" file somewhere.

It'll then open in Notepad.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE file here.

UserSupport_Pro, I've edited your previous post regarding malware fixes, as you are not currently qualified to recommend those applications. If you would like to learn how to become qualified, don't hesitate to contact me via PM and I can direct you to the appropriate places.

thanks,

This is a screenshot of startup in msconfig

I have no idea what these "SearchSettings" are

- I deleted everything in "temp"
- SuperAntiSpyware found 170 adwares and deleted them, Malwarebyte found nothing

- As for HijackThis:

You do not have a Anti-virus program installed!
Safe mode is not the best way to see the entries in the Hjt log and as some entries 018 need to be checked.
I am asking for your post to be checked by one of our Malware Experts

I did have Kaspersky 2013 and Norton 2012, but deleted both because I thought they may be the reason of freezing. I had similar experience with Bitdefender, couldn't do anything on computer because it was massively slowed down.
I'll try now HJT in normal mode.

Download either Avast!
http://www.avast.com/en-gb/index
Or
Microsoft Security Essentials.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...ity-essentials

Update which ever program you choose - then run a Full scan on your Pc.
---
Check Device Manager - you may need to update a driver or two.
How to acces Device Manager
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm
If a driver is needed - always go to the manufacturers website.
----
Install all Windows Updates

At the request of Blues_Harp28 I am jumping in to assist and have you run some scans.

First I would like you to uninstall Spybot S&D, it is no longer a recommended Anti Spyware program and it can interfere with some of the clean up tools we may need to use.

Open you Task Manager and locate Teatimer.exe in the list of processes, click on it so it is highlighted and then click on the End Process button, close Task Manager. Then Click on Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features. Locate Spybot in the list and uninstall it.

___________________________________________________________________________ ________________

When you reinstalled Windows did you do a full re-installation or just a Repair install?

___________________________________________________________________________ ________________

Please download and run these clean up tools to remove any remnants of Kaspersky and Norton.

Kaspersky Uninstall Tool
Norton Uninstall Tool

Next: Please go Here and follow the instructions to run DDS, then Copy and Paste both the logs into your next reply.
________________________________________________________________________

Now please run these two scans:

SCAN 1
Click on this link to download : ADWCleaner and save it to your desktop.

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading click on Tools > Smartscreen Filter > Turn off Smartscreen Filter then click on OK in the box that opens. Then click on the link again.

Close your browser and click on this icon on your desktop:

You will then see the screen below, click on the Delete button (as indicated), accept any prompts that appear and allow it to reboot the PC. When the PC has rebooted you will be presented with the report, copy & paste it into your next post.

SCAN 2
Download RogueKiller (by tigzy) and save direct to your Desktop.
On the web page click on this:
  • Quit all running programs
  • Start RogueKiller.exe
  • Wait until Prescan has finished.
  • Ensure all boxes are ticked under "Report" tab.
  • Click on Scan.
  • Click on Report when complete. Copy/paste the contents of the report and paste into your next reply.
  • NOTE: DO NOT attempt to remove anything that the scan detects.

Thanks for all your help, but I uninstalled AMD Catalyst, so now I'm on basic video drivers, and since then computer worked perfectly fine. Could AMD Catalyst be the problem? Or maybe it was hardware problem that suddenly disappeared?
