Win7 keyboard mouse freeze on startup

At my work, a new computer running windows 7 regularly freezes at the logon screen. You can't move the keyboard mouse at all. Often a reboot fixes the issue.

You can't remote desktop/VNC to it but you can ping it.

I've checked with the networking department and it is in the same place in Active Directory as the old computer.
I've checked device manager and found no uninstalled hardware.
Log Viewer shows hardly any errors just some GPO warning, nothing obvious.

Any ideas?

First of all, this is your Work PC and you must ask your employer first before changing settings.

Try starting in safe mode. (Shut Down, switch on and keep pressing the F8 key)
From the menu select Safe Mode.

If this works fine then I would look at disabling the startup programs.
( Open the Run Dialogue and type: msconfig)
Disable all startup programs (Don't worry, you can reverse the process)

Check if the problem persists.
