Win7 youtube lag on Laptop
I just purchased a brand new laptop Dell Inspiron 15 with Windows 7, a Pentium(R) Dual-Core processor, T4300 @ 2.10GHz with 4.00 RAM (not sure how much of this is relevant).

Every time I try to play a video, I get a lag. Do I need to change a setting somewhere or is this just something I have to live with?

Is it just like a hulking great jerk every so often? I think flash videos sometimes do that, even on more powerful video cards. Try playing some videos in windows media player or VLC and see how it performs.

What display adapter has it got anyway, the 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330, or just the Intel Integrated GMA 4500MHD?

Be it the Radeon, I would suggest going into the catalyst control centre and adjusting everything for performance, but I don't think there's any options like that in there..

Some of the You Tube videos will buffer ahead (you get the red bar outpacing the playback). Some don't, and they stream live. With this, you will get a jerky start and stop playback, regardless of your system, amt of RAM or internet speed.

There are some third party aps that allow you to download and record the video and then play back, but i hesitate to recommend them.

I think it has something to do with Flash 10. My older system with Flash 9 and XP played these videos perfectly.

Anything that buffers correctly plays ok. If it doesn't buffer, it has the pauses.

OK, I have a Mobile Intel(R) 4Series Express Chip Set Family display adapter. Not sure if that answers the question.

I understand the buffing at the beginning of the videos, but I get it every 30 seconds or so. And it doesn't happen on ALL videos. I'll have to check and see what Flash version I have.

Thanks for replying. I appreciate your input.

Funny you should mention that. I used to have a computer that I gave to my grandad. I was over there a while ago doing a bit of housekeeping with the computer and updated flash player. Then I was watching some youtube videos and they were jerking every now and then. Also, the computer has a geforce fx 5200 in it, same as yours.
