Is there anything pinned currently?

Here is here is where they get stored

C:\Users\<your user account name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

Drag a program shortcut to this folder, see if it gets pinned.

Hello paulb100. Are you running the installed program at the time you want to pin to menu?.

'pin to task bar'

I have the same problem with my 'pin to task bar'

I've got several programs in this folder but they don't show on the task bar.

Can you help?

@drst

Did you modify anything in the system like shortcut arrows?

Did you make a program shortcut on the desktop and drag/copy it to that folder? if so did it show up on the taskbar?

There should only be shortcuts in that folder.

THE REASON IT WASNT WORKING WAS BECAUSE OF THE "REMOVE SHORTCUT ARROW" REGISTRY HACK I PERFORM ON ALL WINDOWS INSTALLS - WHEREBY REMOVING THE ISSHORTCUT ENTRY UNDER LNKFILE IN THE REGISTRY

ONCE I RESTORED IT THE PIN-TO-TASKBAR WORKS (DRAGGIN THEM THERE OR RIGHT-CLICK AND CHOOSE 'PIN-TO-TASKBAR')

IVE UPLOADED THE FILES NEEDED TO RESTORE SHORTCUT ARROWS (WHICH RESTORES PIN-TO-TASKBAR OPTION) THEN ANOTHER METHOD OF REMOVING SHORTCUT ARROWS

see the READ ME file

Allow me to jump in here and say that I have the same problem with pinning to the Taskbar. I have the shortcuts in the file that Mumbodog indicated but they are not shown pinned to the Taskbar.

No, and I have never seen any need to. Am glad you got yours working. I have shortcuts on my desktop and I can click of either of them and am taken to my wanted site.

the only reason I ask is thats why mine didnt work...
(I think the arrows make the icons look ugly and I know if its a shortcut or not cos of where it is... on desktop or Taskbar)

have you made any changes to how windows 7 works?

Thanks for your question but no, I haven't knowingly changed anything that should have affected this feature. Of course, I realize I can open a new folder on my desktop and move those shortcut icons into it and operate from there but that is not the way it should work.
The Taskbar is for that purpose; and others but I must be doing something wrong or my win 7 install is out of 'whack' with this feature..

..so does this mean you may have changed some registry settings or tweaked win7 in anyway?

i didnt think removing shortcuts arrows would disable pin-to-taskbar...but it did?? - it also disabled recent items when you hang mouse of items in start menu that have arrows on then....

have you enabled RECENT ITEMS in start menu properties...that has to be enabled to pin folders to the taskbar - it may help?

just trying to help

Appreciate your continuing to try and help. I occasionally go into Recent Items so tell me, how to "enable" this. I would really like to have my 7 shortcuts on the Taskbar but if it isn't to be, then I will just open the new folder I spoke of earlier and drag those shortcuts into it. Better than nothing and this will take these shortcut icons off the desktop; clearing some of the clutter.
