The value of help forums.
I have been contributing to Windows help forums, since early XP days. (That included this one, but for various "spam" reasons, I was forced to chang my pseudo)
At the present time, Windows 7 forums are coming on line like mushrooms in a field of dew.
This site, one of the most authorative on the web at the moment, was a late starter. Possibly because of its mixed offerings, it will not be significant in the "7" field, but who knows - there are many loyal supporters here.

This is not intended as advertising, merely as increased help for all, but, after thoroughly browsing, the offers are not quite as overwhelming as they appear. IMO, for the time being, they rate thus:

Sevenforums. http://www.sevenforums.com/usercp.php. Excellent but swamped with non Windows 7 trivia
W7Forums. http://www.w7forums.com/ Not a great track record so far, but really freindly and growing by the day!
Neowin. http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showforum=242 A very good reputation, but also diverse.
Windows7forums .http://windows7forums.com/ A busy site, but there seems to be a lot of jealous confliction of interests there - difficult to define.

The easiest way, in the end, is to do a general search with your browser. It will quickly take you to any results. This is the procedure, after all, that a significant number of helpers use. But to wrap it all up on a forum is more friendly and chatty, and saves the seeker quite a lot of research - invaluable for a newbie.

I have tried a few others, but have moved on for different reasons. Anyone else with any interesting Windows 7 specific sites?

I will stick with TSG...

whenever I google a problem, tsg comes up in the google returns at a high percentage rate.

also this site comes up quite often, and often with good solutions

Thanks. That is a very comprehensive one again, but very useful. I was really loking out for sites with Windows 7 as the principal, although most have the other OS's as a less significant option.
