Strange problem with windows 7
I'm having problems with running windows 7 currently and windows vista in the past, basically a had a machine built for me from custom parts but had windows xp installed on, which works fine. But tried installing windows 7 and vista both don't seem to work, they stall on load but after long waits you can access the interface useless to use though. It works fine in safe mode, so i messed about trying to install new drivers there but that doesn't seem to work because its safe mode and you cant install it. I'm running a AMD Athlon 64 5200+, ATI 1950XTX, 4GB RAM DDR2 800 OCZ, ASUS M2R32-MVP motherboard, Barracuda 7200.9 80GB. I've tried taking out everything that the computer didnt need to run and still doest seem to make a difference. Please Help me

Do you have the Vista chipset and other needed drivers from your motherboard manufacturer? Do you have the Vista drivers for other devices (e.g., sound or display may need to come from the device manufacturer)? If not, my advice is to go back to XP. You, of course, needn't take this advice; others have managed to somehow find drivers that work.

In Safe Mode try uninstalling all non critical drivers (e.g., sound). Then see if you can get into normal mode and install the correct drivers, beginning with the chipset.
