Hello All,

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit Edition installed and working fine on the following laptop

HP-Dv5 64-Bit Core2Duo
4 GB RAM
Nvidia Graphics Card.

It is the only operating system. I have two partitions in the laptop harddisk. Windows 7 Ultimate is obviously installed on the first partition (C). I have (D) almost empty and I can shrink or expand it based on the requirements.

Now I want to install Windows 2003 SR2 SP2 Server on the same laptop in Dual Boot Configuration.

I have read that installing a Windows Xp/2003 family operating system on a machine after intallation of Windows Vista/7 family operating system corrupts the boot sector and makes Windows 7 unbootable since both have different operating system files.

I know i should have installed Windows 2003 first and then Windows 7 to ensure a hassle free Windows 7/2003 dual boot system . However I want now to save the hassle and do the other way around.

Can anyone guide me with exact steps or to any other working guide which can ensure that both operating systems would live in harmony in the scenario i have described. Maybe someone with a similar experience can share the precautions and consequences.

Couple of things you can do after installing 2003.

Boot from the W7 dvd select repair my computer and do a startup repair, most of the time this fixes the bootloader for W7, but then 2003 may not boot now. So then you need to install a BCD editor software in W7 to get both of them booting properly.

If startup repair does not get W7 booting again, there are some commands you can do from the W7 recovery environment to get the job done, (boot from the W7 cd, select repair my computer, then command prompt)
