Windows 7 & Lag while gaming.
Recently did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate on this PC, and every few minutes (while playing either World of Warcraft, Call of Duty Modern Warfare:2, or even Left for Dead 2) I get a sudden lag spike, usually lasts just a few seconds, and I eventually have to close the program or wait it out to get it to stop. I have done everything to my knowledge of updating any drivers i can think of.

As far as Hardware goes,
Video Card - ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
Motherboard - ASUS P5QL Pro
Processor - Intel 8200 Quad Core
Using 4GB Ram

Any help is Appreciated.

Is that 64 bit?

Mine is, and all the lags I used to have are now gone, and only playing on a dual core with nvidia 8600 gt, 4 GB RAM

Also using SATA drive

I am hard wired to my modem though.

alright, i reset my bios and i reinstalled windows 7 64bit with the help of a friend, guess i didnt do a "clean" install after all. After installing it, i went and downloaded all the drivers and such for my hardware, so far so good, havent experienced any gaming lag yet.

Turns out, when windows 7 asked me where i wanted it installed, i pushed format instead of delete.

I'll post again if i encounter any problems.

And to answer your questions above, I'm on a wired connection

So u reinstalled WOW and all it's patches twice now?

That must have sucked away a small part of your life .

Anyway, glad it's working out, 64 bit should give a more optimal experience for large programs like WOW.

What's it up to now for the entire program folder and all the expansions and patches, something like 15GB?
