Question ERD 6.5 would not see XP installations
Hey all,

Some of you (particularly the sysadmins among you) are familiar with Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset (DaRT). Now, DaRT includes the most recent version of ERD commander, which is 6.5 and is based on Windows 7 image.

My problem is that ERD wouldn't see any XP installations. I tried it on a virtual machine, on a netbook and on another machine - no luck. XP does see the HDD and system files, but does not detect the system.

Any ideas? Is it supposed to work only with Vista+ systems?

From the DaRT Datasheet, which can be downloaded here (direct link): DaRT Datasheet PDF
Quote:
The Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset 5.0 supports Microsoft
Windows 2000, XP, and Windows Server 2003. The 6.0 version will
support Windows Vista (32 and 64-bit) and Windows Server 2008.
(32 and 64 bit). The Standalone System Sweeper feature of
DaRT 6.0 will also support Windows XP.
And from the Release Notes for 6.5:
Supported operating systems
  • Windows® 7
  • Windows Server® 2008 R2
What has changed since Microsoft DaRT 6.0?

The following changes were made to Microsoft DaRT:
Support was added for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, and support was removed for all older operating systems.
