Solved: Windows 7 ultimate 64bit problems with 16 bit games
Hi all,

I have win7 ult 64.
I used to run vista had a few probs but nothing like this.
As i understand it there is no way to run 16 bit games without certain programs like dos box etc. However i have installed VXP and windows virtual pc to try and run it in xp mode. I did this because people said it worked in forums etc.

I did get it installed using the norm compatibility options. But alas no good. now it saying there is not enough memory!!!!!

Again ive done a bit of reading up but i dont know how to share more memory with my virtual pc VXP.

I have contacted microsoft about this and many other things to do with win7. As the norm with them they try basic things to get it to work......

what ive already done compat etc.

any help or suggestions would be great. on my win 7 i have dosbox and scummvm.

but i can seem to get that to work. I love some of these older games from my youth. Its a shame that someone as big as microsoft has such rubbish customer help!!!!!!!!!!!

again thanks in advance

trev b

Virtual systems don't use the physical hardware in the computer. They have their own emulated hardware. If the games have specific hardware requirements, a virtual system isn't going to work.

I guess MS is damned if they do and damned if they don't. How long would you like them to support 16 bit systems and not move forward into the future.

If you want to run older games keep an older comptuer around with Windows 98 on it.

Yeah i know about the emulated software now. found out but forgot to post. i know but its a game i loved. theres some 32 bit games thats still dont work either. its just a shame. i do miss my vista. never had many probs with that.

thanks any ways guys i will close this post. if i ever find anything else that can help with ye olde games lol i will start a new post for everyone to see.

BTW:
the game in question was titanic Adventure Out of Time. lol. I played it whan i was a kid and loved it. So when it was offered with some old junk i was like yipee!!!

but hey we cant win all the time i guess. I was a bit bummed at the fact the VXP didnt work still. but glad i dont have to use it now as i hate xp's look and feel.

again thanks for the posts.
