Parsing error 0xC00CE556 I have a HP laptop dv6700 which came with Vista. Last Dec, '09 I upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate. It has been working fine up until 6 weeks to 2 months ago and now I get the parsing error when I try to open certain programs: TurboTax 2009, Family Tree Maker 2010, mobile update my PDA (HP) and others I believe. I haven't tried every program.
I have tried a TurboTax Utility, Framework cleanup utility, other utilities I can't even remember (sorry) and last night I reinstalled the upgrade all of it to no avail. I still get the parsing errors and the programs still do not open otherwise the machine works fine.
Needless to say, I am at a loss as to what to do. I can't format the disk and reinstall since its an upgrade and I would have to reinstall Vista and then upgrade to 7. I am not even sure the machine came with the Vista disk though I probably have it somewhere. For example, the error message will be as below, though the program name on the top line will be different, everything else is the same:
