Question Windows 7 disconnects internet on my Hp laptop
My laptop is HP Compaq Presario V3000.
It originally came with Windows Vista.
I recently upgraded it to Windows 7.

Now I am experiencing these problems:

1. My laptop LAN connection would disconnect frequently. I will have to unplug and replug my ethernet cable for the windows to connect again to the internet. I have been using this ethernet cable and internet on my previous laptops and pc but I didn't experienced this problem. I tried to use the same cable on other laptops and it works just fine.

*I tried updating my drivers thru Microsoft update, it didn't fix the problem.
* can you please suggest what specific driver should I install?

2. There is an error that say "consider replacing your battery". Does it mean that windows 7 destroyed my battery? My battery works fine when I was using vista, but when I installed WIndows 7, I saw changes in my battery. I used to have 4 hrs of battery life, now it doesn't even lasts for 10mins.

PLEASE HELP ME...

Consider installing the windows vista chipset drivers.
Might help in your case.
I also have a Compaq v3000

Get your drivers from HP's web site. Use the Vista driver if there is no Windows 7 one.

Install the chipset first, then any networking ones and any other needed ones.

After doing this please let us know which, if any, problems remain.

Sir, sorry but I am not really good in computer terminologies... What do you mean by download the "chipset"? Is it the driver for my Network Adapters?

Thank you.

I see that HP doesn't have drivers for chipset or ethernet for the V3000, so I gave you bum steer. You could see if your motherboard manufacturer provides any drivers that are more up to date than what Windows can find. Else you are stuck with what you have.

The BIOS update may help. But BIOS updates are serious business, so you should check with HP to see if it is advisable. It may be that your computer is not destined to run well with Windows 7.

Whether or not you use 64-bit drivers depends on whether you have Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit installed.
