Solved: [URGENT] All icons are the same, all icons open up the same program
I don't know what happened. I wanted to open a .psd file in photoshop and I had two different versions, CS4 and CS5. I right clicked and opened with PS CS5. I don't know what happened after that. The first time it didn't work, I tried it again and then I noticed that all my icons on my task bar and in start menu are all the same. I open up firefox and it open photoshop instead. EVERYTHING IS PHOTOSHOP! I open the default program "open with..." again on an .exe file for some program this time and selected a different program from the list of open with... Now all the icons changed to that program's icon and all icons open up that program too just like photoshop.

I've reseached forums and stuff and found file association with the registry.

Some forum directed me to this: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/fi...for-windows-7/

People who've had the same/similar problem to mines have found fixes there. But when I try to import those fixes to my registry I get an error message: cannot import w7_exe_fix. Not all data was written succesfully to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes.

Those fixes are for win XP not win 7. there must be similar for win 7. Now, I am pretty sure you have imported some of the data into registry and there for have a bigger problem.

Do you have a backup that you can restore from?

Do you have a win 7 dvd to do a repair install

Those fixes are for Win XP and NOT for Windows 7.
Find a fix for 7
OR
wait for someone to help you out

Run a quick scan with SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes.
Google for them on the internet
