"Windows cannot change the password" Windows 7 I work at a small business. We have two computers on a network in our shop. We have run into difficulties on mulitple occasions when trying to change our passwords.
We have to re-enter our passwords after every time the computer goes into "sleep" mode and our system requires us to change our passwords monthly. These are passwords for each computer individually and not the network. If we do not change the password for the secondary terminal (which is also our cash register) immediately following changing the primary system, we get an error message saying we are "locked out" of the administrator profile on the login screen. If this happens we shut down the computer for an hour or two and try to login again. This seems to have a 50/50 success rate, and if it does work we change our password, problem solved. Normally this can be avoided all together.
But now, it seems we have an additional problem: We cannot change the password on our secondary terminal at all.
We have tried multiple passwords, all of which meet the minimum password requirements, but each attempt returns a message that simply says, "Windows cannot change the password." This is not the same error we get if we mis-type our old password or try to enter a password that does not meet the requirements. The current password has been in place for a month and was put in place the same day as our primary terminal's, which we had no problem changing.
These combined problems add up to not being able to use our cash register for hours at a time, so we need a solution as quickly as possible. I would thank you graciously for any help that anyone can provide. |
