Unhappy I used Recuva to recover some pics and it worked on some
but not on others, so know what do I do with the ones that the program didn't work on? Are they lost forever?

How much are you willing to spend?

Some data recovery companies charge only if they recover data. Some have other pricing systems.

It would be best for your data if you did not use your computer. Remove the hard disk drive. Connect it to a 2nd computer.
This program http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm is free to use. They charge you if the files you want are found.

Edit:
Quote:
Download the trial version and recover your files. You can preview your data to be sure it actually works. If you like the results you do not need run the program again. Purchase the license key and enter it into the open program. Then copy everything you need!

yes, so many programs can work on it. But if you just lost pictures, you can also try some picture recovery applications to recover photos lost for they are more precise and less time intensive. Moreover many programs support preview function and you can check whether they are what you want.
