Windows 7 Clean reinstall
Hey

I upgraded from the Win 7 RC to Win 7 Home Premium through the student upgrade, aka the .exe upgrade. My PC is running pretty slow and I want to do a clean reinstall. I downloaded a Windows 7 ISO from here http://lifehacker.com/5391688/iso-do...udent-download and burned it onto a DVD. I have the license key and want to know if I reinstall, will I be able to use the same key on the same PC. Also I wanna know if the ISO is legit. Thanks.

To which command do you refer?

start > programs OR all programs > accessories
RIGHT click "command prompt".
Left click "run as administrator".

The start "command prompt" using the steps I noted.

Then, type the command.

I clicked on the lifehacker link you provided, but did not see a reference to a command prompt command.

go to the page to which you refer.

start > programs / all program > accessories > command prompt
right click
left click "run as administrator"
type: cd\
press enter
You should be at c:

Copy the command from the web page to which you refer
Return to the command prompt that you opened.
RIGHT click the black area
Left click "paste"
Press "enter".

NOTE: If the web page tells you to substitute something, such as the drive letter onto which Windows is installed, in place of "x", paste into notepad, make the change, copy the notepad line. THEN, paste into the command prompt.

Please use the screen shot method, if you refer to an image.
screenshot

On your keyboard, look for a key labeled "print screen" OR "PrtSc" OR "PRN SCN" or some variation.
When you want to capture that which is displayed, press the print screen button.
Open Paint [ start > programs / all programs > accessories > paint [ rarely MS Paint]
Maximize Paint
left click "edit"
Left click "paste"
file > save as.
Save the file to any location of your choice.
File name: your choice, for example: "filename"
save as type: left click down pointing arrow. Left click jpg / jpeg
Left click "save" / "ok".

The file name has now been saved as filename.jpg [ or filename.jpeg ].

Return to the thread.
Left click "go advanced".

Left click "manage attachments"
left click "browse"
browse to the location, on your computer, where you saved "filename.jpg"
Left click filename.jpg
left click "open"
left click Upload"
close window of upload screen after the file has been uploaded.

enter text into the reply area.
left click "submit"

If there is information on the screen that you don't want to display, you can use the eraser [ looks like a bar of soap, left column, 2nd from the top. You can remove large areas by clicking on the dotted outline column button, top, right column, then drag your mouse while holding down left mouse button ] to surround that which you don't want displayed. Then, press "delete" on your keyboard. Then save.

tom :
Thanks.

Did you follow steps 1 - 7 at http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-l.html?filter ?

For example, is "expandedsetup" on your desktop?

Did you type the command, or cut & paste.
There should not be " , for example between -b and C:

I can not answer that question.

For one person's solution to the problem you are having, please look at http://windows7center.com/forums/win...king-many.html

You will find many more threads if you use the following in your favorite search engine [ Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc ]
: "could not delete existing file" "expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com"
Be sure to include the quotes. I suggest that you copy the line, following the colon " : ".

EXAMPLES

http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=...p&fr2=&iscqry=

http://www.bing.com/search?q=%22coul...=QBLH&qs=n&sk=

Best of success.
