bad pool header
OK so i have a brand new Asus computer still under warranty put i can't afford to send it out to get his fixed so here's my problem.

more often than not my computer bsods and restarts. it does it randomly. I could be surfing the web or working on a photo in photo shop or i would be away from my computer with no programs up and i will come back in and it has bsoded. i have looked around and found many forums for this but none that fix my problem. so i am hoping you could help.

thanks,
-Melowman

p.s. I have attached a hijack this file and an image of the bsod hopefully i uploaded it right

Actually this could be a lot of things. We need to rule out memory which is the most common. Run memtest86 from a cd. Download an iso file, burn to bootable cd and run 4 complete tests. Each test has 8 cycles to complete so this can take a few hours.

If you don't have any program to burn an iso to a bootable cd:
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/burncdcc.html
Then the next thing to do is start finding the newest mfgr drivers for all hardware.

Please follow these directions if the Memtest does not report errors: http://www.jcgriff2.com/BSODpostinstructions.html

does this memtest ever stop or does it just keep going? its done four passes so far and i am not sure you want me to continue or what . i know you wrote "run 4 complete tests. Each test has 8 cycles to complete" but its been 5:49:19 since i started, and no errors. So after this last pass i am stopping it.

Also should i go ahead and do what Jonathan_King wrote? Is it just for info gathering or is his suggestion for fixing too?

No, the suggestion is only the first step, to gather the necessary data. Once you upload the folder, I will look at the info and suggest accordingly.

The memtest should take several hours to complete. It will not fix any errors, just let you know if you have any.

so i finally figured out how to compress these files so here are the Windows7_Vista_jcgriff2 and the health report.

also about the memtest I know it will take a couple of hours but will it stop on its own or will it just keep on going till you stop it. when I did it, it went for six hours when finally I had to stop it because I had to go home and I could not leave the computer on at work.

I see a few possible issues. The dumps appear to be caused by some sort of Disk corruption, but I'm actually suspecting some software instead.

First, Norton must be removed. It is known to cause crashes on Windows 7 and Vista. Here is the removal tool: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

Replace it with the free Microsoft Security Essentials: www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Second, Daemon Tools should be removed. It uses a driver, SPTD.sys, that is famous for causing BSODs, Once that program is removed, run this tool to completely remove SPTD: http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/downloads

Please report back with the results, and we can move on from there.

Ok, to give you an update on my computer. Its been a week or so, and ever since I uninstalled symantec and daemon tools I have not had any bsods. I guess it was one of the two that caused the problem. I am going to install daemon tools to see if it bsods after the install. If it doesn't I know it was symantec that caused it.

Thank you so much for your help. I never would have figured this out if it wasn't for your help. I probably would have spent a lot of money replacing the ram. I am so glad I found this forum.
