HP TC4400 Windows 7 boot failure
This thread is a continuation of this expired thread: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-7/...to-system.html

I have the same problem and have spent quite an amount of time debugging this problem, without any luck so far. A short summary of the problem:

After installing windows 7 enterprise on the HP TC4400 tablet pc, the system boots fine a couple of times, but after the last windows update is installed (the key activation and important system files tamper protection), the boot screen falls into system recovery mode, which consequently fails. I don't remember the KB article number for this update, i can acquire it if needed.

At first i thought it was a problem related to USB when the computer seemed to fail when reboote with attached equipment (camera, external hdd), but this was dismissed. Furthermore i managed to retrieve from the log an indication of F-secure beeing the problem (Boot critical file d:\windows\system32\drivers\fsbts.sys is corrupt), but without f-secure installed, the problem remained.

Finally i found an article that indicate the screen adapter driver to be the problem, and suggested that i download a fresh driver from intel, and not HP (http://www.meltivore.com/2010/hp-tc4...1/#comment-397), but this did not work either.

So, to recap, what has been tried is:
Don't install the key tamper update
Don't install f-secure
Cancel windows update driver installation of the screen adapter, and consequently installed a fresh driver straight from intel before windows update had a go at it.
Tried several iso-images of windows 7, both norwegian and english (we have these available through microsoft campus agreement). I've also tried installing both these images from both dvd and from a memory stick.

Any further tips?

Best regards
Martin
