So I've seen this exact same problem posted before and read the solutions given. I was just hoping to get some help more specific to my needs/computer. Anyway, my CPU is constantly running at 100% and my computer is running horribly slow. Shutting down requires waiting for Windows Task Host, and Windows Log Off Sound, about a 1-2 minute wait followed by .5-1 minute of the blue "Windows is logging off" screen. Another problem I have been having besides files/folders and programs taking forever open and constantly freezing up is that certain sites, such as hotmail.com and myspace.com to name a couple, will not load after my computer has been on for more than few minutes. I have a small window of time after I log on to browse the web with moderate speed and reliability. I recently switched to Mozilla Firefox and it's running much smoother than IE. Though I still have the problem of some sites not loading. It's a minor inconvenience but a nuisance none the less, and I have no idea if it's in anyway related to my CPU being at 100% constantly.
I've taken a few steps to try and remedy, or at least improve my computer's performance. The steps I've taken are:
- Delete Temp. Files
- Disk Clean Up
- Ran Malwarebytes (Came up clean)
- Ran Windows Update (Up to date)
- Disabled Unwanted Start Up Programs (Noticed a huge improvement on my log on time, with an occasional exception*)
- Uninstalled Unwanted Programs
- Defraged Hard Disk
After each task I preformed a restart.
*Sometimes Spybot S&D loads up last and takes a long time to load. During that time things slow to a crawl and if I try to access my web browser is won't load, says "Looking up {website}"
So in short, I've done all the common fixes I know of to this problem and still no luck. CPU is still at 100% Below are my system specs and my log file from HiJackThis. Please provide step by step instructions on what you think I should do/change/fix/whatever. Thanks!
