So my husband *just* got a new computer, an Acer Aspire desktop with Windows 7. Today when we got home, he saw that there was an error on his computer. It said that there had been an unexpected shutdown and something about a blue screen. Any ideas what could be happening? Again, he just set this computer up two days ago.

This error has happened two times in a row when he had the computer copy files from one hard drive to another and left to go somewhere. When he got back the computer had rebooted and displayed a message saying that there had been an unexpected shutdown and something about a blue screen. The computer's temperature has been checked under similar conditions and is fine, a "SFC/SCANNOW" test was run and there were no errors.

There's another thing that we've been having a problem with. We're still getting adjusted to Windows 7 from XP but there are a few new "features" that are simply asinine. The one that we can't deal with is how you can't turn off the Auto-Arrange alphabetically feature to sort files in the order you want within folders. There are several regedit workarounds that we've tried but to no avail. Does anyone know how to fix this?

for the blue screening problem, that usualy means the HDD has become corrupted in some way, shape or form.

to fix that usualy requires a HDD format and then reinstalling WIN7.

cant seem to find where you turn off the auto-arrange feature on WIN7 at the minute

after further digging have found out that the option to disable the "auto-arrange" feature has been removed.
Mircosoft don't want you to disable this.

aren't they helpfull :P


you can still disable this but it requires the editing of registries, which id recomend against doing, if you dont have a good knowledge of them.
