Exclamation No Idea How to Find my Ethernet Controllers Driver
In essence, I have gone over at least 100 forums trying to find one that I could UNDERSTAND. I am good with computers except for one detail... the names and lingo for everything does nothing but confuse me. I can send my specs if you would like. Mainly I am trying to find the driver for the ethernet controller on a Sony Vaio VGC-RB43. I have software that can download and update all of my drivers for me... except I cannot connect to the internet because my Ethernet Controller driver isnt there... which is why I believe that Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit is telling me that their is no cord plugged in. (which there is.) I am on my Mac mini trying to figure this out and find out what driver I need to transport from here to the Vaio. Please.... any suggestions?! Remember when the lingo or names get really technical... I will be lost.

You should get the ethernet driver for your PC from Sony's web site. If there is not a separate one it is included in the chipset drivers. Or, sometimes the manufacturer will say that the needed driver is included in Windows 7.

Device Driver is indicating that the driver is missing?

It looks as though XP and Vista Home basic are the only OS supported by Sony on your model.

Did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?

I simply Wiped Windows XP from my computer and Installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.I found the name of what I think is the Ehternet controller, now I just have the trouble of finding the driver. The name is davicom cnet cn200 pro fast ethernet adapter. No, I didn't run the upgrade advisor, simply wiped and installed. It is an older computer but Windows 7 is running fine. I cannot find anytihng of use on the Vaio website.

The site lists."Original - Intel® PRO/100 VE Network Connection Driver".
It doesn't show a driver for Vista, so it may be included in "System Components" or some other package.
It might be more productive to get a PCI NIC, or a USB Ethernet adapter

I asked before ...

Quote:
Device Driver is indicating that the driver is missing?
What exactly is the warning or error for it?

That Intel info is indicating that Windows should have installed a driver.
