I have a Toshiba L500-19Z running Windows 7. Up until yesterday the HDMI output socket was working fine.
However, now, when I plug a cable in the screen keeps goes blank and then returning to normal.
This continues for a few minutes and then when I try to output to eg a TV it shows as not connected.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing this?
Device Manager says that the device is working OK and I've checked that the driver is up to date.

I'm now stumped!

system restore> choose a date before the issue started

Thanks for the suggestion but no, I've tried this a few times. Every recovery point I choose seems to be recovering correctly but then fails with a message saying that the recovery couldn't be completed successfully and leaves the system as it was.
