I saw a message like this years ago, with Norton AV, I think, but I believe it was on shutdown when it prompted to remove the disk. Don't remember for sure as I quit using Norton before I quit using Win98.
I don't think I've ever seen a message like that on bootup, in any version of Windows. If the disk is bootable and the drive comes 1st in the boot order, then the PC boots from it. If not then it ignores it. So I don't think it's as simple as having a disk in a drive. Even if removing the disk does fix the problem I think there's something else going on, I just don't know what. Could be malware attempting to prevent someone from clean booting to remove it. Or not, that's just speculation. |
