Exclamation Windows 7 black screen, can see mouse, won't go further
Okay so I was just on my computer and it was being a little slower at responding than usual and then it froze so I had to hol the power button to turn it off. When I turned it back on it came to a black screen with my cursor sitting there. I can move the cursor around but cannot use ctrl+alt+del to open task manager. Safe mode leads to the same problem. Safe mode with networking also leads to the same problem. I don't have a restore point so system restore is out of the question. I tried startup repair but it said there were no problems detected. I ran a memory test to try to find problems and it came up with nothing. I looked around the Internet for solutions but only found solutions for people who could access task manager. If someone could help me it would be very much appreciated.

i have the same problem with my computer except before going to the black screen it goes to a screen with a progress bar that says windows loading files then it goes to the black screen with mouse cursor witch i have noticed is slightly larger than normal

nevermind i solved it by holding zero before turning on then repeatedly clicking f8 and pressing safe mode with command prompt
this somehow brought me to a screen asking me if a realy wanted to restore my computer to out-of-box setting and erase all my data
