Hi!

I use Windows XP (and Ubuntu) and often use my USB Key with both without any trouble.

A friend gave me recently a fairly lowend-ish laptop, and I want to put ME on it.. but I want to know if ME has the same trouble 98SE did with needing a driver to use USB Keys.

If so, do I need to put a driver in every time I use a different USB (and it detects the software again), or do I just need to install it the first time then every other time it'll just add the drive in My Computer?

From all the Win9x OS's, WinME is nthe one with less problems with USB devices.

On the other hand WinME is the worst Win9x OS. Win98SE is far better.

Most of the USB flash drives will not need new drivers with WinME, but don't take that as a rule.

Like Blue Zee said, ME probably has newer drivers to ensure compatibility, but Microsoft killed real-mode MS-DOS in ME and that destroyed any hopes for it to succeed.

How low-endish is the laptop? It might be a good candidate for Damn Small Linux or similar.
