Hard Disk Controller
I did a dumb thing. I undated my hard disk controller drivers using windows update and my system slowed down. I whet into divice manager and I had a couple of yellow "!" next to my primary and secondary hard disk controllers. I reinstalled standard drivers on both and it is now working better. My question is how do I get the system back to what it was before. Should I remove the PCI bus Master IDE controller and then reboot and see if windows reinstalls it?

I'd be inclined to remove any of the master IDE controllers I found in Device Manager from SAFE mode (the parents 'should' take their primary and secondary children with them) and reboot right away (perhaps resetting the configuration data in the bios along the way).

You seem to be showing 3 masters there.

What is the chipset with that 82371 > (440bx ?)

Did you ever install an intel inf from the mobo mfg. or from intel on this one?

I got it fixed. Thanks for the info.
I removed the primary parent and all the kids went with her and after a reboot things are back to normal (New Kids and all). Please see attachment.

I will never do that again.

If the chipset fits and you want a 'minor' adventure - http://developer.intel.com/design/so...atform/inf.htm

You'll probably have to recheck the DMA boxes - you might have to now as well
