No sound, no printer, Window 98 se
Hello, I am new in this forum and I would like to greet all of you and I would like to ask you for your help.
I have WINDOWS 98 SE, (The disk is lost)
Two files vanished from my PC, one was SETUPAPI.DLL and the other ENUMVAR.DLL
At the start Windows 98, appears a Window that says:
dll file ENUMVAR.DLL not found and later other Windows that say:
DLL file SETUPAPI.DLL not found.

I checked if they existed but they had disappeared it is for this reason that I downloaded the two files in the Windows System.
The two Windows disappear, but a new one appears that says:
The setupapi.dll is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL Ntclose.
I can see this DLL in the Windows System but something happens that it is not recognized.
As result of everything previously mentioned, I have the following problems:
A...- There is no sound in live TV or Radio.
B...-The printer HP 1310 series can’t print documents from Word or the Internet. When I try to do a print from Word, two Windows appears:
1-Mechanical error. The printer cartridge cradle cannot move
2-The other, There was an error writing to USB001, for printer HP 1310 Series. The network is not longer available, contact The System administrator.
The two Windows do not appear when I use the printer to make COPIES, and then it works to perfection.
C...-Properties in Desktop don’t open.
I tried to correct these errors and for this reason I installed REGcure, this program did not help, they didn’t even send me the DLL that was lost, in other words a fraud, because the agreement wasn’t honored.
Regrettably the Computer for me is very important, I have Diabetes that left me with serious problems of vision, being this way (the computer) the only information source that I can read, unfortunately it is a part of what some would call my life style.
I’d be grateful if some of you could solve this problem that it has affected me horribly.
Thank you in advance
Tirso

Hi and welcome to TSG.
Try renaming the files in C:\windows\system right click and rename old.
Then install the new dll files.

The install Cd would help you.

If you can boot in Dos, type in scanreg/repair, then select a date for before the problem started. This should help.

No print no sound
Thanks Vicks, but did not work. I start in Dos and C:\scanreg/repair after that C:\scanreg/fix. Then in register checker it run until 32% checking System register structure, then I have a Windows that said:

Windows found an error in your System file and was unable to fix the problem. Tray deleting same files to free up disk space on your Windows drive. If that doesn’t work. Then you will need to install Windows to a new directory.

I try to rename the file NTDLL.DLL to be able to download a new NTDLL.DLL but I am no allowed to do it.

Do you have any other idea? keep in mind that I don’t have the disk of Windows 98se to be able to reinstall it.

From Toronto
Thanks

Tirso

Did you d/load ENUMVAR.DLL and SETUPAPI.DLL to desktop and then find the existing files in C:\windows\system and rename them old.
And then install new dll files?

Another thing to try, open 'my computer' right click on the C drive, select properties
tools and then error checking status.

No print, no sound.

No Print. No Sound

I still have the same problems.

1.- first thing I did was to run Scandisk for errors.

2.- I start in Dos and C:\scanreg/repair after that C:\scanreg/fix. Then in register checker it run until 32% checking System register structure, then I have a Windows that said:

Windows found an error in your System file and was unable to fix the problem. Tray deleting same files to free up disk space on your Windows drive. If that doesn’t work. Then you will need to install Windows to a new directory.

3.- I download SETUPAPI.DLL and ENUMVAR.DLL to C:\windows/system then
I try to rename the file NTDLL.DLL to be able to download a new NTDLL.DLL but I am no allowed to do it.

The two Windows disappear, but a new one appears at the start

The setupapi.dll is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL Ntclose.

I can see this DLL in the Windows System but something happens that it is not recognized.

4.- I try to uninstall the printer a HP 1310 Series all in one PSC in three different ways:

From the program with uninstall icon. Did not work
From the installation disk. Did not work
From Control Panel, add and remove I remove most of the programs of the Print except one then a have a window that said:

Error 1324 the path encounter an invalid character.

5. - I run many times that program REGCURE, that promised you to fix every thing before something happens to your computer. The truth is that the program does not work.

Bottom line:

The SOUND is not working, the PRINTER is no working and I cannot uninstall it.

The System is Windows 98se.

The Printer is HP 1315 PSC (all in one). Same one know how uninstall it?

Do you have any other idea?

Keep in mind that I don’t have the disk of Windows 98se to be able to reinstall it.

From Toronto
Thanks

Tirso

If you haven't done so already, go to the web site for the manufacturer of your compter, I am sure you will need the model number, if a Dell, also the service tag, (on desktop it is behind the door for the USB ports, if laptop, on the bottom.). You should be able to get the drivers for the items on your particular machine.
to uninstall the printer, did you go to control panel>add remove hardware> and follow the instructions there?
Might be able to find the dll file you are needing by going to www.dll-files.com
My husband was born and grew up in Oshawa... not too far east of Toronto.

Hello Tirso

We regret to hear of the difficulties that you are experiencing with your computer.

Please know that RegCure is a registry cleaning and optimization application that can save you time and effort and offers you a safe way to streamline your system registry. Although RegCure is a very helpful cleaning tool, it does not replace missing or deleted files. If it was a registry error, we feel confident that RegCure would alleviate this problem.

We have attached a site below that may assist you in reinstalling the DLL you require.

NOTE: That although we have used the site on occasion and experienced no difficulties, we can not be responsible for its content nor success. There are other sites that offer similar files for free and we do not endorse any, we only offer a possibility of finding what is needed.

Thank you
