Angry Stuck With Porn
Ok, here's the deal. Like any man, my husband likes to check out porn on the web. Well, I went to put my home page back to yahoo.com and the porn websites took over. When I started to type "www" in the area, about 12 porn websites popped up. I deleted my history, my cookies, all offline content, and even checked my add/remove programs for anything unusual. I even went in and did it manually. There is virtually nothing left. I then called Dell and told them I was running Windows XP and he told me how to restore old settings from a different date. Well, I did that and IE seems to be running fine. The only problem is, I re-deleted everything and those same 12 websites are still in the drop down list under "change home page." They are not affecting my computer, right now, but it is annoying that they are there. I am afraid the same thing will happen. If there are any suggestions, please let me know. I have already tried Window Washer and Purgeie. Purgeie found the files, but came up with an error when it tried to delete them. They were listed under visited URLs.

Please do this. Go here http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download Hijack This. Un Zip it and click on the Hijachthis.exe.

Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

Do NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

Why doesn't your husband get his own computer. If he keeps using the joint one, you'll just be back here in another week or so trying to get the stuff off again.

From a quick glance, it looks as though you have quite a bit of spyware/adware/malware on your computer. The best (and easiest) way to get rid of this stuff completely is by using the program Spybot - you can download it from http://security.kolla.de/.

Good luck!

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close all browser windows and "Fix Checked"

Restart your computer.

Next Please do the following:

Download Spybot - Search & Destroy here http://security.kolla.de/ , if you haven't already got the program.

Install the program, and launch it.

Now press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds.

When you're done restart your computer.

Be sure and take advantage of the "Immunize" feature. It will help protect you from future attacks.

Also go here http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-b...ST;f=38;t=3051 for info on how this happens and how to help prevent it. On this page you will find a link to Javacool's SpywareBlaster. Get it and install it . Be sure to check for udates frequently. These two together will go a long way toward keeping you spyware

After downloading spybot like flrman1 asked.

Go to Immunize.

And check the checkbox where it says "Lock IE start page setting against user changes.

This makes sure no porn website can change your home page.
