Solved: Service Pack 2 Setup Error
I get this error on all Windows updates.
Error message:
"Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer."
Dell Dimension 8250
Intel 2.8 processor
Windows XP Home edition
Version: 5.1 (Build 2600.XPSP2.030422-1633: Service Pack 1
Dell BIOS ver A04
Cryptographic services are running.

Are you still having this problem? If so, did you check in Services that Cryptographic is running? I assume you have, after what you mentioned at the end.
There is this, but you may want to create a Restore point, just in case:

Kudos and thanks a bunch! Your first suggestion, rename EDB.log file, did the deed. As a test I installed two critical updates that did not install before and then installed SP2 using the Windows, XP Service Pack 2 CD. All went well without a hitch. Thanks again. As the final action in my update I'll send in a contribution to this site! Wow! wHAT A BARGAIN!
