Solved: Nine months of BSODs - no apparent cause
I've been having BSODs since I built my system nine months ago, and I'm at a complete loss as to what's wrong. Just recently I RMA'd my motherboard as a last-ditch attempt at a fix because I couldn't find anything wrong. Every blue screen is an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. My device drivers are all up to date. My BIOS is up to date. I've run about 20 memtests and all come back clean. I've run diagnostics on my hard drives and all come back clean.

I got my motherboard back from the manufacturer in the beginning of December. My first blue screen after that was yesterday, after I used Registry Booster to clean my registry. I restored the files since I'd hoped that I'd removed something accidentally. I just received a second one about a half hour ago. I reset, and the system hung when Windows was trying to load. I reset again, got the message that Windows didn't start normally and the system hung at the 27 second countdown to choose how to load Windows. I did a hard shut down, booted, and it appeared to boot normally.

I did have a backup motherboard I used while my current one was being repaired, and during that time I had three Kernel error blue screens. After the third, the system did an automatic Disk Check on reboot and I didn't have one after that. Granted, I was only using that motherboard for about a month.

It may be worth mentioning that the line in/line out for my headphones hasn't worked properly since my computer was built. Plugging in the headphones does not mute the speakers. I have to plug my headphones into the rear panel. I believe that might be a problem with wiring in the case though.

Any help would be appreciated because I'm really at wit's end and about to chuck my computer off my balcony. I would post my dxdiag, but it's too long.

Perhaps you have done so, but have you seen this MS note? (assuming it's a Stop 0x0000000A error that you are getting?)
If not, what is the Stop error?

Have you checked for any clues in Event Viewer?

As well, I "think", on that blue screen near the bottom is a reference to a file. If there is, what is that file name?

Sorry, I forgot, stop arbitrarily running Registry cleaning apps. They do nothing productive and will/can cause damage.

That is the error and I have seen that, but troubleshooting is hard to do because it happens at extremely random times. My most recent blue screen I had Outlook and Firefox open, got up to fold laundry, then looked back at my computer after 20 minutes and had a blue screen. I had literally done nothing. Also, since I put this computer together I have done three full XP reinstalls and updated drivers from the manufacturer. All mobo drivers I've updated from Gigabyte's website.

Here is the error I received today: Error code 1000000a, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 0000001c, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 804dcbc6.

This is the error I received yesterday: Error code 1000000a, parameter1 ffe00000, parameter2 000000ff, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 806fff71.

I have also noticed a few warning on TCP/IP connections, but I'm not sure what to make of that.

I'm sorry, I don't have that.

I wasn't entirely arbitrary, because I was having trouble with Neverwinter Nights 2 and an AVG false positive. I tried reinstalling NWN2 but it wasn't fully installed. There were files in my C: drive and a shortcut on my desktop, but I couldn't uninstall from Add/Remove programs or install. I was hoping I had just removed incorrect files and I did restore them. I hope I restored them all, but Registry Booster is no longer on my system.

Here's a link to the dump files from my BSOD yesterday: http://www.elricm.com/Monica/Downloads/Dump.zip

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. I can put parts together and fiddle around a bit, but that's about it. I don't have an intelppm.sys process running, but there is such a file in the directory listed in that article.

So, you're saying that discontinuous C states (from Microsoft's support page) are causing my blue screens? Because that code doesn't seem to support my blue screen error code. I understand that you know what you're talking about, but I don't.

Either ZoneAlarm Is The Cause For Crashing , Corrupted PageFile, Or Faulty Hardware

Start -> Run -> Verifier -> Choose: "Create Standard Settings" -> Select Driver Names From A List -> Next -> Choose "vsdatant.sys" -> Finish

==================================================================
Re-Allocate The Paging Space

Instructions
1.Start > Control Panel > System > "Advanced" tab > In The "Performance" Section Select "Settings" > "Advanced" tab > In The "Virtual Memory" Section Select "Change". Change the values to 0.

2. Delete C:\pagefile.sys [C: --> Primary Driver in Which Windows Is Installed]

3. Reboot windows

4. Start > Control Panel > System > "Advanced" tab > In The "Performance" Section Select "Settings" > "Advanced" tab > In The "Virtual Memory" Section Select "Change". Change the Values to 1.5 * memory size

How can I optimize the Windows 2000/XP/2003 virtual memory (Pagefile)?

IF All This Didn't Resolve The Crashing ... Then

Suggestion :-

1.Run "memtest" to stress the ram. If memtest reports the ram is faulty, ram is bad. Sometimes some faulty ram can pass memtest .Reset the memory stick to another slot.If You have More then one Stick of Ram Take out one memory stick And Run "Memtest" on each separately . If windows does not crash, the removed memory stick is faulty.

2.Check the temperature of the CPU and make sure that it is not overheat. Make sure that the CPU fan works properly . Try Changing It

3.Clean the dust inside the computer case

4.Make sure that your PSU have adequate power For all the hardware.

5.Update Video Card Drivers. Also Reset video card. Run 3DMark to test your video card. Check to default setting if you video card is "overclocked"

6. Run chkdsk /r at command prompt

Okay, I have my system set to Standby, and when powering back on this evening I immediately got a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error. Code: 0x00000050 (0xcc517AA4, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). This leads me to believe it's ram.

Did this, restarted and it worked fine.

Did this, except for deleting the pagefile.sys file. For some reason I don't have one, and I searched making sure that I searched system files. When selecting Restart, I got another blue screen: "A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught. The faulty driver currently on the kernel stack must be replaced with a working version." Error code: 0x000000C4 (0x00000008, 0x88E11F88, 0x0000000c, 0x00000000).

Because it blue screened, I'm going to skip the rest and run a memtest overnight.

Will do.

CPU temp is currently 32. Fan speed is 2020.

It's clean.

As far as I can tell (and the various tech support and computer shop people who've looked at it) it's fine.

Drivers are updated however, I did get another blue screen. I shut down AVG Resident Shield and then when trying to shut down Zone Alarm to install the updated driver, I got the same device driver blue screen as above. Error code: 0x000000C4 (0x00000008, 0x88DEB009, 0x0000000c, 0x00000000).
