Try Re-registering the Windows Update DLL with the commands below

Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

Type or copy and paste the following commands. Press ENTER after each command.

regsvr32 wuapi.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
regsvr32 wups2.dll
regsvr32 msxml.dll
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml2.dll
regsvr32 qmgr.dll
regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll

Simpswr:

I too was having problems getting a few updates to install, and used your tip on re-registering the Windows Update DLLs.

For others that may read this thread:
To make it even easier, I copied and pasted the list of commands you provided into a notepad file and saved it as "Fix_Updater.bat" <what you call it is not important as long as it has a .bat extension>. Then just double-click on the batch file and it runs asking you to click on OK as each DLL is registered. It's a little quicker, and I can just re-run the batch file if I have problems in the future.
