I'm trying to download the Opera browser, but when I do, it goes though the steps of installing and then I get the following error:

Internal Error 2932C:\DocumentsandSettings\Compaq_Owner\ApplicationData\Microsoft\Installe r\(C619B312-19F3-460A-9F7B-443248379F18)\ARPRODUCTICON.exe,131

I've tried several registry cleaners, etc. but can't fix the problems. I'm open to suggestions. :-)

Basically run it, locate opera in the installers to clean up and clean them out.


Are you upgrading an existing install or just doing a clean install?

I think that if the above does not work, try deleting the folder
C:\DocumentsandSettings\Compaq_Owner\ApplicationData\Microsoft\Installer\(C 619B312-19F3-460A-9F7B-443248379F18)
Restart computer and run the Opera installer again.

When I try to run the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility, it does the same thing as when I try to Install Opera. I appears to start the install then I get the same error message.

I've tried to search for C:\DocumentsandSettings\Compaq_Owner\ApplicationData\Microsoft\Installer, as well as the number sequence but get an error message that C:\DocumentsandSettings\Compaq_Owner\ApplicationData\Microsoft\Installer refers to a location that is not available.

Thanks for the tips, I've tried to download and run the installer clean up utility, but when it tries to run, I end up with the same Error 2932. I've also removed the file containing 619B312-19F3-460A-9F7B-443248379F18, rebooted and no luck. I've tried to do some research and have also tried to download version 2 of the windows installer (no luck), also tried to unregister msiexec and then re-register msiexec, rebooting after doing such, both in regular and Safe Mode (no luck). Also was told to try and rename msi.dll, msihnd.dll and msiexec.exe, which I did by adding "1" behind the name and before ".dll" (no luck)

Do you think it's safe to totally remove msiexec.exe, then try to download the windows installer again?

To download HJTsetup.exe from TrendSecure To Download HijackThis go to the following at the File Repository
Click on the link below to Download HijackThis Self Installer:

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
A security expert with a gold shield to the right of their name should take a look at your log - please be patient.

Yes, I do keep my windows updated with the automatic feature. I'm not sure if I have the recovery disk, it's been a long time. I think the computer is maybe 5 years old, so there's been lots of use. Up until now though, it's been fine.

The odds are as you mention using several registry cleaners and actually short of taking a sledge hammer to the case you could not do anything much worse, you will need to do XP repair now.
