Angry What files can I delete safely windows XP ++
My computer is about ready to be smashed to Smithereens LOL!

I need to know is what files are safe to delete in windows XP.

I am trying anything and everything to figure out what's wrong with this blasted machine.
I posted a Hijack log and received no replies.
(So I am guessing and hoping there was nothing was wrong with my log)

I also hope it's not my CPU or motherboard. Computer is so stinking slow. And freezes up for a few seconds to minutes. Plus it makes noises I can't explain. And the orange light is like non stop while you use it or right after you stop.

That's why I think it's my CPU or motherboard.
I already ran defrag. And tons of other stuff thinking maybe a virus, trojan what ever was the culprit.

Thanks so much
Vera

On the HJT log that you entered it is a beta version which is not very accurate and also the HJT experts with the gold shields have been very busy lately and do sometimes miss a log file. If you would post a new one after you remove the old version from your computer and old log files it would be a help, the instructions are below:

To download HJTsetup.exe from TrendSecure To Download HijackThis go to the following at the File Repository
Click on the link below to Download HijackThis Self Installer:

http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en...HJTInstall.exe

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
A security expert with a gold shield to the right of their name should take a look at your log - please be patient.

60 degrees C is not that bad but I old invest in a can of compressed air and remove the cover of the computer and without removing the processor or heatsink attached give everything a good airing out especially the heatsink on the processor without removing it.

If your PC is making a lot of noise then it probably has a fan that is sticking or wobbling. You need a can of Air to clean out the case and make sure it is unplugged while doing so. Clean the whole thing out and pay close attention to the fans, memory CPU and Heatsink. Also blow from the front to clean out the hard drive and CD_ROM areas.

Anywhere I should not spray? while in there.
Thank you all. I'll spay it out as soon as I find the spray. If I can't find it I'll get one Tuesday.

I have to get off my 6 year old wants to play Sims 2.
She's stomping up behind me LOL.
Makes about the 3rd pass.

Thanks so much.

Been watching computer even idle temps high
I am going to see if I can take care of it today.

The temps idle are I found the options for C and F

So I have posted Farenheit.
To me these sound high.

it's
TEMP1 93F
Temp2 was at 179F and dropped to 150F
HD0 is only 77F
Temp1 is 133F

If I can get the tower apart I will do it now.
I doubt I can our computer desk is so small .

Thanks guys
Vera

Yea, looks like it is over heating. Take it out side and spray everything in there. Might even use the whole can on this one. After the can gets real cold it doesn't spray as well, give it some time and then spray again.

Cleaned computer
Went to Office Depot and bought a vacuum for the computer.
I also bought some compressed air. Thought it was expensive.
They didn't have the wrist wrap or mat.
So I went to Office Max.
They had the compressed air 2pack 10 ounce cans for less then 1 10 ounce can at Office Depot.
(They didn't have the wrist strap or mat either that are anti-static.)

I vacuumed out the big stuff, then used the 2 cans of compressed air.
Alternating between the cans when one got cold.
Everything's clean and sparkly inside.

As soon as the computer loaded I started SpeedFan.
Temp1 went from 80-91 in 10 minutes

Temp2 107-118 (This temp has a red arrow one minute pointing up then it has a black check the next when the temp goes down a bit) It seems to change a lot. Not
sure if I should be worried or not the temp changes like second to second.

HDO: Went from 60-64 in 10 minutes

Temp1 97 Steady

Thanks, Vera
