Currently releases of SP3 seems to work well on most systems I have here. I have never got that error posted by the OP here. I did try to remove the SP3 as it didn't like some of the software I was using. Now that system is running SP2 again without a hitch.

I just saw a news clip that SP3 will be out on the 21th, so we'll see if it's a better release.

I think it all depends. I used the Sp3 on 3 pc's with no issues. Others had issues.

the procedure entry point GdiGetBitmapBitSize could not be located in the dynamic link library GDI32.dll.

Points to a graphics driver incompatibility. Might want to check with your driver vendor for issues and updates before trying again. But printers also use this resource.

Third party network software has some problems.. Well maybe they'll be a fix when it gets official?

Tap F8 after pressing power button to turn on and until you get a choice of safe mode. Once in safe mode, go into Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and uninstall SP3.

Thanks for trying though. Now we all know not to try it for a while.

If you can't figure it out, you'll have to do your own research.

Naturally, I fired up Acronis True Image and restored this morning's image, but I figure at some point they'll try to push this update down on patch Tuesday...

Just curious if anyone else has seen something similar? Any other issues after installing SP3 for other folks here?
I installed this Windows XP Service Pack 3, I got this same identical message(c0000139 and gdi 32 dll) and have not been able to reboot my computer since its been almost 2 weeks and I sick over this. I called for help but I do not have the $49 for a one time assist. I need to go through my recovery console I guess, can anyone help; my computer only reboots to the xp page and cuts off from there. Please help.

Do a repair installing using your XP disc. Instructions here:
http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt...l-windows.html

As JohnWill proved earlier in the thread, backing up really pays off.

HP's have a recovery where you reinstall your OS and programs and the files and data are saved. The other thing you can do is tap F8 continuously after pressing the power button and then from the new options choose Safe Mode and then uninstall SP1 in Programs and Features in Control Panel.

However, when mine crashed, I couldn't boot into safe mode.

There simply is no substitute for a real backup in situations like this.

I'll give the RTM version a try tonight. Maybe it will work better than last time.
