Question Solved: SP3 display error
HI guys

Ok so I wait to the official release of the final Sp3 was available to download (no more Betas). So I decide to download the ISO of Service pack 3 from Microsoft download page and burned into a disk, so from the disk just install it...oh no !!>>> everything was going Ok.

But suddenly ...the bar stopped and a little window appear saying that there's am internal error and the install will close ??!!

Ok... well I try using the normal windows update, downloaded ok , start wizard and then same ting stop and say that there was an internal error and the app. needs to close.

what happened ?? Do I'm missing another update or any special file so I can be able to Install this new SP3 from Microsoft? ?

Any ideas how to fix this? or why is this happening?

hey thanks you guys.

I read the link of the Microsoft before and really I didn't get any of the errors posted in the log as they say I should have.

And my copy of Windows XP is genuine , that's why i don't understand why this new SP3 it's having so much trouble to install in my computer and I have enough space in my hd.

Grrr this all situation is making us very frustrated , and my roomate i's having the same luck with her computer , the same error as me , The Install starts and then suddenly Stops and say "Internal error" !!! and it just stops , we got the update via windows Update too !! so there's two variations that just don't install properly , grrrrr .

What can we do guys ? is ther a work around for this ? or we just ignore the darn SP3 is just giving us to much grief !!

Thank you guys for any help and point us in the right direction.

Toti

What antivirus are you using? . . Did you turn it off prior to running SP3?

You should have a file named svcpack.log in c:/windows . . does it give any hints about where it stopped?

By the way we're using Antivir , Spyboot and Superantispyware but all of this are disable at the time of Install the SP3 .

I think we are not doing something right , but what is it ? I already read that some ppl. can isntal it with no troubles so.....? we even download the stand alone version of SP3 and try but no luck the same error again !!

We just don't understand this .

We're gonna look again in the Log to see if it says something about it and post it , hope someone with more knowledge can give us a hand.

Thanks guys

Angry SP3 don't Install properly, "Display Internal error"
Simpswr did u make it work that ISO version for you ?

How did u Installed? we just can't make it work don't Install keep giving us the Error .

Maybe we are going to pass in Installing this SP3 , at least until Microsoft resolve all this bugs .

Seems that the ppl. really don't know how to fix this errors or don't know the causes.

Oh well ....we try, I really appreciate the help but nothing seems to work and didn't find a fix for this, I already search the Internet and lots of ppl. seems to have issues and same error in Install and for now we haven't find a Fix for this.

And honestly we don't want to make a fresh Install just for a "service pack " that really don't give us something new , to the contrary it's giving us to many griefs .

I.m not going to post this as Solved because really didn't find a fix for this (at least for now).

We did the same thing but same results

Oh well, thanks a lot for trying to help us , like they say " if ain't broken don't fixed "

We are happy with SP2 for now and our systems run Ok so.... no biggie.

Maybe at the long run M.S. will prompt a Hot fix for this " cripple release " and if not we are not worried at all now.

we thought it was something reeeally important but mmm no, no, no... we got not hurry now to try to install this "service pack 3".

Thanks you anyways simpswr

OK

well good news guys we fix it , we got a friend from our Univ. visit us and check our systems .

diagnostic = we got Micrografx - Picture Publisher Professional 10.

And that was the cause of this annoying "error", so we uninstall it then apply direct from microsoft Sp3 , install ran OK , reboot and all is running OK.

for now ....

So now we are going to POST THIS AS SOLVED !!!

weeeeeeeee !!

Thanks to all the ppl. that help us and point us in the right direction.
