"My Computer" not opening
Using XP. Disk is defragged - in good shape. When attempting to access files via clicking "My Computer" or Windows Explorer, on the desktop, all I get is the searching flashlight with no results after a wait of several minutes. All other system functions seem to be working fine. Any suggestions?

Many Thanks-Paul

Have you changed any hardware recently? Almost as if a floppy drive was not accessible or a cdrom drive.

No new hardware lately. Grandson did plug in a Zune player to charge the batteries.

Apologies, but I do not understand "try running line 157 right hand side"

Thanks for the fast replies.

Hi there,
Allow me to explain, go to this webpage
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Scroll down to line 157 to where it says Prevent Delay Opening My Computer/Explorer, right click on it and save the wia.reg registry file to your desktop.
Locate the file on your desktop and Double click it and answer Yes to the import prompt. That will make the necessary registry changes to fix your issue.
REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Post back and let us know how you get on.

Problem solved on its on somehow. Not sure what happened. Did not have to go to line 157 as very clearly stated by Jack. Thanks to you all for skill and patience.
