I think it might be that everyone and their grandma is downloading it. Their server might be overloaded. Have you received any specific error messages?

Nope, Just that it failed. This is what it gave me "Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB936929)
Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) is an update to Windows XP that addresses key feedback from our customers and is a cumulative update that includes all previously released updates for Windows XP, including security updates. Windows XP SP3 contains a small number of new updates and should not significantly change the Windows XP experience. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
How to Uninstall
This software update can be removed via Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.". Does that help you?

I ran into the problem where it seemed to freeze on me. So I canceled the download, rebooted, killed firewall and AV, and restarted, installed with no problems.

Same here , we have the same trouble my roomate and me.

The update just don't install correctly , it just quit at half way , giving us " internal error" we just don't know what 's going on, our copies of win XP home are genuine so...?!?

And we try the same disabling anti virus and firewall and "NADA" Zero Install .
Are we doing something wrong, it was supposed to be like a regular update , just click and update....but ...??!!

Toti and roomate.

My Address Toolbar is gone. Am I the only one to experience this from the Service Pack 3 Patch?

Had nothing but trouble with Windows XP SP (KB936929). Installed with no problem, when my computer restarted, it made it to the Windows Start-up Screen and rebooted, Again & Again & Again … Had to get in, in Safe Mode and Restore to an earlier date. Shut off my Fire Wall, Spyware & Virus Protection Programs, and reinstalled it again. Same Problem. My Computer will not restart with the Service Pack 3. Tried everything. I have restored to an earlier point and have left well enough alone until Microsoft fixes the bugs.

Do you get any errors? Or does it just hangup and never finish?

I noted early morning Wed that SP3 was being offer as the latest updated from MS I opted not to download or install at this time.
I would say that many may have not and download and installed SP3.
I hope that any problems will be easy to fix and that people did back ups before anyone installed the SP. At this time no one should be setting update to auto mod.

I am going to wait a week or more to see how the overall release goes before installing on any systems.

Does anyone know of the latest list of problems that seem to be the same or is everyone getting differers types of errors?

thanks and good luck all.

Hung up once on AUTO-UPDATE. Had No problem Downloading from Microsoft Update Website. My Problem was after Install on Reboot. Computer just made it to XP Welcome Screen and kept rebooting. Would Not Start at ALL in Normal Mode. Could only get into my computer in Safe Mode. Had to Restore to an earlier Point to get my Computer to run at all. Would not advise trying to download SP3 at this time. Microsft has some serious issues with this software !

Is there any urgency in installing this update anyway? If this is just intended to make it easier to catch up on previous update patches, I guess most here don't really need it as their systems would be fully patched anyway.
