winXP digitaql camera problems
I have a canon pro70 digital camera. I cannot transfer the images from the camera to my pc because the software will not work in XP, so I started using my pc compact flash slot to to transfer the images. That worked well for a while , then one day the pc stopped reading the card. At this point the pc erased everything on the card. So I formatted the card and tried again to see if the pc would read again. It did not, so now i went to my hp printer that has a card reader. Now this did not work either. Now I have no way of transfering the images from my camera to the pc. I then bought a new 4 gig compact flash card and am having the same problem with it. I have 3 compact flash cards. An 8M from Canon that came from the camera. a 48 MBsandisk, and a new 4 GIG SanDiskl. What puzzles me is that with the camera I can view the images. When I insert the cards into the pc compact flash slot, it does nothing. The hour glass icon stays on the desktop forever. When I insert the cards into the printer, I get this error message ( CARD ACCESS ERROR}. The images are on the cards because I can view them on the camera screen, but when i try to see them on my pc via a photo program , pc says there are no images. Either all the cards have gotten a glich or my computer and printer has gone bad. This I have a hard time believing. Can the pc be putting a glich on all my cards when I try to read them via the pc?? I am lost here. Can you help??

I just tried a new 1 G compact flash card. That did not work. i uninstalled the printer software and reinstalled. That did no work . I uninstalled again and unplugged the printer from the pc, and tried the compact flash card in the pc. That did not work. I don't understand how oth the pc and the printer will not read the card.

One more thing I tried. I tried reading the compact flash card from my HP printer to a different pc. that did not work either. I had a friend try to read the card on his pc and it did read. So in my mind , this tells me that both the printer and the pc has a problem.
What do you think ?? And what can I do about it. ??
