Registry Issues
Guys, I recently bought a eeepc and I must say I absolutely love it. I use it alot on site at customer's homes for troubleshooting, etc. One thing I use it for is to register modem's to provide a customer with internet service. The issue I'm having is when I register a modem the ISP has a pretty funky process and insists on installing un-necessary software.

The process works through a walled garden and only with IE or Safari unless I can somehow get it to work with FF/Protable FF. I noticed that once I have registered a modem and try to register another modem it will not allow me to. The walled garden automatically directs me to a "Page cannot be displayed" It does this because during the registration process it writes keys to the registry related to IE somehow. I just don't know what keys to look for.

What I would like to know is if anyone here knows of a method or app that will basically take a snap shot of the registry before hand and after I were to go through this registration process or install any application for that matter, show me which keys have been modified/added afterwards.

I have tried backing up my registry which I did that as soon as I got it, because my sole purpose for it was to do what I'm doing with it now. Using it on site. However when I goto import the registry backup it never imports successfully and always after the import 1 or more of my driver's no longer work properly be it vga or audio.

But also after the import I am able to register another modem, just a pain that it messes up my driver's. Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Winalysis, WhatChanged 1.06, SysTracer, Regshot, Registry First Aid, Registry Help, Active Registry Monitor, Advanced Registry Tracer, and RegSnap are the ones I use most often for before/after comparisons. There are many others, including many that specialize in snapshots before and after installations so they can be completely reversed.
