XP SP2 Install
All of the SP2 install guides at windowsreinstall.com (link provided in the sticky) state that XP Home CD is required, what if I don't have one, I have a Dell-provided "reinstall" CD for XP. Can I still use the same procedures to upgrade to SP2?

Can anyone vouch for the SP2 install at this link:

http://www.downloaddossier.com/www/dl/index.php?dlid=11

Wasn't sure if the download from MS update was working correct.

If your Dell "Reinstall" CD is the same as mine then it is a full XP Installation disk, so in answer to your question, Yes.
I have from that made my own SP2 slipstreamed installation CD, I am considering making another with SP3 slipstreamed into it.

Thanks Jack. I had seen that link, but assumed because of the statements "if you are only installing one", "professional", "developer" etc. that I could not use it. Will give it a shot in a bit.

Thanks again Jack, the SP2 appears to be working correct. I will definitely check out the slipstreaming link for future use. I was wondering in the meantime is there any reason why I could not just copy the downloaded SP2 file from MS onto a CD so that if I run into a problem again I could reinstall XP and SP2 before ever connecting to the net. I mean, I understand that is what the slipstream link is supposed to get you, but I've got to connect again before I do that. This is my third try in getting this system going, which is why I ask. Just trying to rule out other possibilities causing the problems, posting from different machine right now. Thanks for the help. If this installation fails again, listen on the wind for crunching plastic and metal as I smash this machine onto my driveway.
