Lost File - Pulling Hair Bald - Where's it Hiding?
I had a very extensive file saved on flashdrive and now I can't find it anywhere. I've even looked on the computer it was attached to, and the surrounding hard drives. It can't have just disappeared, can it?? The problem seems to have occurred when I was unable to save to the flash, and was given an error message (I can't remember the exact wording but it was something like "unable to save, due to conflict..." Ok I can see how I might have lost what I just added to the file, but I've been saving this file all along as I worked, and now it's gone.

Adding to this trouble, it seems I've forgotten the exact title of the file, but I believe I found it when doing a search. However, when I attempted to open the file, it said that the path did not exist, and asked if I wanted to delete the shortcut. Ok...no I didn't delete the shortcut.

I'm not sure what to do here, and I'm more than a bit confused how I could have even lost the file...is it possible to find this file again, and where do I start looking? It's not in the usual places, from what I've seen as I've checked "my documents" and the temp folder. It wasn't an htm document or internet file, so I'm not sure where else to look. This was just an .rtf file--though it may have somehow become a word file in the course of saving several times since they seem to be closely related.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! It would be very difficult to start this project all over again, if not impossible. A lot of work went into it, and I know it wouldn't be the same again. I do hope there is some way to recover this, at which point I'll definately make another copy and save that as an .htm (those don't seem to delete as easily).

Thanks to all

I think that you are saying that you had exactly one copy of a file on a flash drive and now it is gone and you're not sure of the name. Can't help with the name but if you haven't written too much else to the flash drive a file recovery program may help you get most of it back. Here's one: PCI_FileRecovery http://www.freewareweb.com/cgi-bin/a...695&download=1
