Solved: I want to enlarge C Drive
I have a 250 GB hard drive. I put 30 GB for my C, and the rest in D. That's not enough room for C. I have about a GB left. I removed the partition for D, which is now, not in C, but "unallocated." Sheeet! That's not what I intended. I have both C and D already backed up, but surely there must be some way to increase the size of C.

How do I go about enlarging C? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you moved "My Documents", TEMP/TMP, \TIF folders to other partitions?
Reduced the size of System Restore?

Partition magic would certainly do that for you. Do please wait for other posts, as there are, I'm sure, other alternetives.

I haven't reduced System Restore yet, but I've copied everything to a backup drive. I tried to install Partition Magic, but I'm short on space. I got an error message: 1607 Unable to install shield scripting runtime.

This sounds a bit like "and the little one said, move over", try uninstalling some stuff. How much room does PM maintain IT needs versus how much room do you have.

I'm sorry, the above does sound a bit cheeky, i don't mean it that way. But you must make room for PM to install fully. Also watch this:

BSOD post ends with a cliff hanger! Well, I'm running into little problems now too.
I've got Ubuntu 8.04 just waiting to get installed. I've got everything backed up on a Seagate 400 GB external harddrive, so I'm not too upset, although it'll use a little more time.

When I removed the D partition (after I backed it up), all the riles on it disappeared. I don't know if it formatted itself or they simply vanished. But the shortcut to my desktop I see has the address of D:\Folderz\Desktop.sfc . . . but there ain't no D and the folder "Folderz" exists in my external harddrive, not in the unallotted space. This might be why WindowsInstaller is acting shy.

Sheeet!

I wonder if I can get into Restore Point? Thank for your time!

The restore point can't restore what ain't there.

I'm trying to reinstall Windows Installer, which is version 6. 16, but this is what MS says:

Quote:
Look at the File Version field to determine the version number of the IsScript engine you need:
If the file version number is 2.0x or less, download the IKernel engine and install it on your computer.
Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\engine from the machine.
Download IkernelUpdate.exe
Once downloaded, double-click it. This installs the IKernel engine, which should fix the issue.
If the file version number starts with 7, download the following ISScript.msi file and install it on your computer.
Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\7 from the machine.
Download IsScript7x.zip
Unzip the above file using the WinZip utility.
Double-click the IsScript.msi file. This installs the IsScript engine, which should fix the issue.
If the file version number starts with 8, download the following IsScript8.msi file and install it on your computer.
Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\8 from the machine.
Download IsScript8.zip
Unzip the above file using the WinZip utility.
Double-click the IsScript8.msi file. This installs the IsScript engine, which should fix the issue.
If the file version number starts with 9, download the following IsScript9.msi file and install it on your computer.
Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\9 from the machine.
Download IsScript9.zip
I can't install Partition Magic without Windows Installer. I guess that's the first step.

Install Partition Magic to another pc and then make Rescue bootup disks and you can make the change by booting to the rescue disks and merging the partitions that way.

Right from the start, when I went to "extend" my C Drive, In Partition Magic the message is: This Partition crosses the 1024 cylinder boundry and may not be bootable.

That does not sound like good news. Can that be reversed if it's not bootable? And what is crossing the 1024 cylinder boundry? Like coming in to the US illegally?

Doing a quick google search, it would appear that you should continue, that with modern day bioses, that shouldn't matter.

Are you using PM 7?
