Solved: won't boot into xp
one of my computers wont boot into windows xp. i know it has windows xp because i installed it on that hard drive using one of my other computers. When i start it up it does the thing were it detects the hard drives and so on then i get to this screen and it says:

searching for boot record on floppy..... not found
searching for boot record on IDE....OK

thats all good except then that screen just sits there it doesn't boot into xp

any ideas any body

You need to install XP on it on the hardware you want it to run on. The odds of being able to install on one and run on another are slim to none.

Why did you install it on another computer?

Sounds like you either have to reinstall it on the current hardware or try booting into recovery console with the windows install disc. Run commands: fixmbr and fixboot

However, you may be missing some system files depending on how you installed windows on prior hardware.

oh yer i forgot the reason i installed windows using other computer is the copy of windows i have is on a disk and the computer wont look for a boot record on the disk drive.

anyone know how to fix that?
