wireless connection problem
Hello,
I have an acer aspire laptop running windows xp home edition and a Baudtech router. Another laptop here connects fine to the router through wireless connection but the acer laptop have the following problem. Also the acer laptop connects fine to another wireless network.

The router assigns ip addreses on the range 192.168.1.x but when i connect from the acer laptop the ip address assigned to it is 192.168.2.100 and gateway 192.168.2.1. The result is that although windows show that the connection have been established succesfully, the laptop has no connection either to the internet or the LAN including the router.
Any ideas about the problem and any solutions appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

pc: the problem is propably related to the wireless network card because the computer connects correctly with ethernet cable with the same router.

What is the router ip address?

Also, click START, RUN, type "CMD" <enter>

In command prompt, type "ipconfig /all" and post the results.

Has this always been happening or did it occur recently after any discernible event(s)?

wireless connection problem
Unfortunately this laptop wasn't mine so i don't have access to it anymore to post the results of the commands. It seems that the card on the laptop was always giving the same ip/gateway etc for each network the router was connecting.
Also for your question, the person who owned that told me that the laptop connected correctly to another wireless network, but i don't know additional info.
I managed a workaround for this problem by setting the router's ip address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 and then setting the router to give addresses in the range of 192.168.2.x . By doing these the laptop connected and worked correctly, but i didn't manage to figure out why the wireless card was stuck on this ip.
If you have any proposals for this i would be very interested , as this problem have triggered my curiosity.

Well, to state the obvious, if the TCP/IP properties for the wireless connection were set to that static IP configuration then it would always be that. Since the person may someday want to connect to a wireless network for which he/she cannot change the router it would be preferable to change those settings to 'obtain IP auto' and 'obtain DNS auto.'
