Windows XP and 98
We have windows xp operating system and have added our old hard drive with windows 98 as a slave drive. We can see the slave drive, it is E, and see a list of files, but cant run windows 98. We have some programs which will only run on windows 98 so would like to be able to run either C drive with XP or E drive with 98. We do have a disk for windows 98 but no disk for windows xp.
C drive is a SATA drive with windows xp professional
E drive is an ATA/133 hard drive 20gb with windows 98, previously C drive on an old computer.

We want to be able to choose which operating system to use when we boot up the system.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Windws XP will boot 98 as long as 98 was installed first. The only thing you can do now to boot both is install a boot agent third party software program.

You could try booting with only the 98 drive connected up, you might have to change the Bios boot order to get it to work.

If Win98 was installed on a different PC than the one you're using now you could have problems with 98 even if you do get it to boot up.

Because you will have the wrong drivers and stuff.

Thanks for the quick replies.
Is there a way to reinstall win98 over the existing programs, we have the disk, so that it will be configured correctly?
We did try the compatibility option in windows xp but the program still didnt work.
Would like to be able to have access to both operating systems on the same computer.
How does the third party boot software work, any other ones available as I couldnt get the link to work.
Thanks again for helping
