The machine is a Presaio , amd athlon 64 3200 processor, 1mg ddr pc3200 ram, total windows memory 3485mg, page file 3000mg, 350 g hard drive, windwos, xp home sp2. The problem is that it runs slow.. even calling out programs to startup is slow. The pc is virus, and malware and spyware free. Is more memory necessary??????????

try defragging and cleaning up the hdd

also run sum smart tests on it

sorry a smart test would be a test that you run inside a program called speed fan Google that and you will find it

I ran the smart test and the results were very good, There was no indication of any problems.

did the computer speed up any after you defragged it any

No it has not.. It was only 6% frangmented..

Then the only think i can thing of is that the computer is just to slow for it or that it is loaded with to much junk and needs a new install of windows sorry i cant be of more use
