Startup file not found
Hello, I have been posting in the Malware Removal and HJT thread as I had malware problems, and once I thought they were mostly solved, my computer froze/internet stopped working/couldnt do anything, and I shut it off to restart it, and when I did so, the following showed on the screen:

Windows\system32\C_\252.nls is either corrupt or could not be found.

...to attempt repair with Windows Setup, use original Setup CD.

This is where the problem starts, my computer was an open box special, so it came with virtually NOTHING. I did purchase a Recovery disk, which is only for restoring to out-of-box specs.

So my question is, is there anyway to save the files on the computer, or even use something else to fix this without losing everything?

It is a Toshiba Qosmio G30, with XP Media Center.

Thank you for any help.

You could purchase an external hard drive and drag anything important onto it. Then you could restore to out of box specs.

I was thinking about the external hard drive, but how do i get the files on to it? Windows doesn't even start up?

Thanks though.
